Mr. Brown was born in Nashville, Tennessee and is a graduate of East Carolina University with honors in Political Science and the Wake Forest University School of Law, where he served on the Board of Editors of the Law Review.
Mr. Brown continues to practice general law with an emphasis on real estate development, business and commercial transactions as well as civil litigation involving real estate, construction, insurance, environmental and other business disputes. He is a member of the American Bar Association's Sections on Real Property, Trust and Probate, as well as Civil Litigation. He currently serves on the North Carolina Bar Association BarCares Board of Directors, which assists lawyers with emotional and related issues. He has also served on the board of the North Carolina Bar Association Real Property Section of which he continues to be a member. He is also a member of the Environmental and Litigation Sections of the North Carolina Bar Association.
For clients in real estate development projects, Mr. Brown has worked with municipalities, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and other agencies on zoning, utility, transportation, and governmental permits and approvals on commercial, industrial and residential projects. These representations have included appearances before the Commissioners in Guilford, Alamance, Orange and Cabarrus Counties and the municipalities of Burlington, Graham, Mebane, Elon, Gibsonville, Alamance and Concord. Mr. Brown's litigation experience has included client representation in all three federal district courts in North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia as well as state court appearances in multiple counties in North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina.
Triad Business Leader named Mr. Brown one of the Triad's Top Lawyers in 2008 in the practice areas of business law and civil litigation.
Mr. Brown co-authored the Continuing Care Retirement Center Ordinance for the City of Burlington, Burlington Ordinance § 32.10 SS. He wrote N.C.G.S. § 47-17.2 and the Village of Alamance's Watershed Ordinance. He was also a contributing author of the Town of Gibsonville Planned Unit Development Ordinance.
He was chairman of the City of Burlington Board of Adjustment for fifteen years, is a past board member and past president of the Alamance Business Club, the Sedgefield Country Club, Crossroads (formerly Rape Crisis), Alamance County Bar Association and Allied Churches of Alamance County. Mr. Brown is a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he has served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Stewardship Campaign.Business Entities
