    <description><![CDATA[  <p><img src="/files/shared/awards-photo.jpg" alt="" />&nbsp;</p><p>Each year, Vernon Law hosts a celebratory luncheon at the Alamance Country Club to recognize its employees for their service and dedication to the law firm. This year&#39;s celebration took place on April 23, 2008.</p>  <p>Those being honored included: Erma Ryan (5 years); Lydia Fleeman (10 years); Terri Ford (10 years); Katharine Kuczkowski (10 years); Terri Morin (10 years); and Marsha Massey (15 years).</p>  <p>Vernon Law believes in the value created by a team approach to legal problem solving.     <title>Jeffrey A. Andrews Receives Citizen Lawyer Award</title>

    <description><![CDATA[<p align="justify">The North Carolina Bar Association, at its 2007 Annual Convention in Asheville, recognized a select group of attorneys to receive the inaugural <font color="#3300ff"><strong>Citizen Lawyer Award</strong></font>.&nbsp; <a href="http://www.vernonlaw.com/content/page/id/22">Jeffrey A. Andrews</a>, a principal in the law firm of <strong>Vernon</strong><strong>, Vernon, Wooten, Brown, Andrews &amp; Garrett, P.A.</strong>, was among the two dozen attorneys from across the State recognized for their outstanding service to their communities.&nbsp; </p><p align="justify">Mr. Andrews has chosen to work with volunteer community service organizations in Alamance County throughout his thirty-year career as an attorney in Burlington and a member of the North Carolina Bar Association.&nbsp; His volunteer community involvement has included service as a Board Member and/or officer of such organizations as Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, Alamance CARES, Alamance Community College Foundation,&nbsp; Ralph Scott Lifeservices, Alamance Citizens Against Drug Abuse, Suicide &amp; Crisis Services and Outreach and Prevention Services.&nbsp; Mr. Andrews has a long-time affiliation with the Alamance County Area Chamber of Commerce having served as a director and the chairman of multiple committees.&nbsp; He has also served as a Loaned Executive with the United Way since the inception of that program, volunteered in various public education programs, served as co-chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Education Council, member for Alamance Partnership for education and is now active in the Alamance Citizens for Education as well as the School-to-Careers Partnership.&nbsp; Mr. Andrews has participated in the municipal government process by service as secretary and a member of the Alamance County Traffic Commission.&nbsp; </p><p align="justify">Jeffrey A. Andrews is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and the Commonwealth of Virginia and is a member of numerous national and state health law organizations including American Health Lawyers Association, North Carolina Society of Healthcare Attorneys and the Health Law Sections of the American Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association.</p><p align="justify">&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

    <description><![CDATA[<p>Vernon Law Supports March of Dimes WalkAmerica</p><p>On Saturday, May 5, 2007, the Vernon Law Firm continued their annual tradition of participating in Burlington&#39;s March of Dimes WalkAmerica. &nbsp;Wearing t-shirts specially designed by Vernon Law, a group of our employees joined in the walk helping to raise money to fight premature birth, the leading cause of newborn death.&nbsp; One in every eight babies born in the U.S. is born prematurely and the numbers are on the rise. &nbsp;You too can give hope to premature babies and their families by supporting March of Dimes research into the causes of premature birth and genetic birth defects.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>]]></description>

    <description><![CDATA[<p><strong><a href="http://www.vernonlaw.com/content/page/id/22">Jeffrey A. Andrews</a></strong>, a Vernon Law shareholder and director, recently concluded a busy month of participation in educational and community activities. </p><p>Mr. Andrews spoke at a seminar in Greensboro devoted to legal issues surrounding <strong>&quot;Medical Records Law in North Carolina&quot; </strong>and then participated in a panel discussion in Burlington at a meeting of the Alamance Commercial Realtors Alliance on downtown rehabilitation financing issues including the use by a municipality of tax increment financing (&quot;TIF&quot;) bonds. </p><p>Additionally, Mr. Andrews recently published an article in a local magazine entitled <strong>&quot;Medical Records Privacy&quot;</strong> and is teaching an elementary school class for Junior Achievement. </p>]]></description>

    <title>Thomas Receives Disability Certification</title>

    <description><![CDATA[<P><STRONG>Belinda Ann Thomas</STRONG>, paralegal with Vernon Law, has been awarded the prestigious Advanced Certified Paralegal designation by NALA, The National Association of Legal Assistants/Paralegals. Thomas completed requirements in December 2006 for advanced certification in the area of <STRONG>Social Security Disability</STRONG>. </P>
<P>Belinda has worked at Vernon Law for 17 years. She received her paralegal certification in 1994 and her specialty in Civil Litigation in 1996.</P>
